Weddings

Yesterday we were at the wedding of my cousin's daughter. Like all weddings it was wonderful and a lot of fun and a very happy day for everyone. We saw relatives and friends that we rarely see- only at "weddings and funerals," as the saying goes.

With the way marriage relationships are dissolved in great numbers these days, and few people seem willing to live for anyone other than themselves, I hope this couple will live for each other. My prayer for them is that they will know the power of faith in Christ to make a marriage work- and be what it was meant to be.

I hope they will let him teach them how to put the needs of the other one first- it is the only way- and show them that marriage is a picture that can teach us all about God and the relationship between him and those who truly try to follow him.

Fight Pollution

The Bible says that true religion is helping widows and orphans and keeping oneself from being polluted by the world- polluted- what an interesting choice of words.

I can remember pictures of polluted rivers that were discolored and full of ooze and muck- an interesting metaphor. The "world" will certainly pollute us, if we let it. This can be dangerous because it is the default mode of life- pollution will happen automatically if I do nothing; the pollution will saturate me and change me and destroy me for eternity.

Become a spiritual environmentalist- fight pollution (forget water pollution- we're talking about eternity and whether you and I will live forever, or not). Maybe your concerned about pollution in your life, but maybe you're also worried- worried about being seen as "too religious"? Worried that your friends and relatives will think you are odd? We all need to get over it and seek the Lord while he may be found. Give it everything you have today and tomorrow and every day- fight pollution.

Have you accepted Jesus as "your Lord and savior"? Good start- but- now make it real...seek Him...draw near to Him daily. Fight pollution starting today, or drown in it for eternity- it's your choice.
